This week I had Megan from the Portable Professional on the show! She’s a travel tips & hacks YouTuber (not a vlogger!). In this interview, we talk a lot about monetizing for a channel under 100k subscribers. In 2022, she was able to make $100k off her channel.

One of the things that I found really insightful in valuable was how she negotiates with brands. She says she is “ruthless,” and she goes into detail about her high standards when it comes to negotiating with brands. She is so meticulous with her monetization strategy, and it’s really paying off!

How do you get more confidence? How do you showcase that personality and charisma that you see other creators having? Confidence has a snowball effect: the more confidence you have, the better you are in front of the camera you are, the more interesting, dynamic, magnetic and charismatic you are, and then more people want to watch you. The more people subscribe and watch your videos, the more subscribers you get, and so on and so forth.

So what’s the secret? How are successful content creators with hundreds of thousands–even millions–of subscribers achieving this level of success? I feel like it boils down to three things.

This week I have minimalist YouTuber Christina Mychas on the show! Christina’s channel started off as a shopping and fashion channel, but when she realized her shopping habits had put her into overwhelming debt, she didn’t want to live like that anymore.

She had a turning point and wanted to take her channel along for the ride as she transitioned into a life where she spent less and lived a minimalist lifestyle.

This week I had the opportunity to interview someone a little bit different. I don’t think I’ve had anyone on the show who creates YouTube content specifically geared towards children. Jaime from Cosmic Kids Yoga is an incredible creator and my daughters LOVE watching her. I’m a huge advocate for limiting screen time for kids, but I let my daughters watch Jaime’s videos because it combines storytelling with movement. Kids are doing yoga while they are acting out their favorite stories. Her videos have beautiful, positive messages for children and her production is out of this world. 

This interview is super interesting as Jaime explains how she was able to monetize a children’s channel as well as how she produces these incredible videos.

This week I had the pleasure of interviewing Iryna Fedchenko! Iryna is originally from Ukraine, and currently based out of LA, but a lot of her channel centers around when she lived in Mexico and her many travels. She calls her channel a lifestyle channel, but it touches on so many different topics! Her channel has over 800k subscribers and 50 million views

Her channel is in Spanish, so if you’re not a Spanish speaker, you may not really understand what she’s saying, but you can still get a good sense of what’s going on.

I’m so happy to be featuring a wonderful Ukrainian creator like Iryna. This is a fantastic interview, and I’m so fascinated by Iryna’s background and experience.  She’s a perfect example of why Youtube is for everyone! Anyone can get onto YouTube and share their unique story.

This week I had the pleasure of interviewing the Gem Goddess, who has over 800k YouTube subscribers and 68 million views.

She is a mystic and manifestation coach who teaches the Law of Attraction, spirituality, and philosophy using tools such as tarot and astrology to guide her subscribers.

In this interview, she shares some of her advice when it comes to manifesting your success as a content creator. She also shared a ton of mindset tips and tricks and I absolutely loved being able to chat with her. The Gem Goddess truly believes that anyone can make their dreams happen and I found so much what she talked about in this interview to be so inspiring.

This is a great interview for anyone who has a business that they’re looking to grow with YouTube!

I’m so excited for my audience to meet Shelly. She is such a light! She has such an infectious, positive personality and energy about her that I just know you all will fall in love with.

She went from obsessing over SEO and following a rigid formula that didn’t work for her or her channel to focusing on who her ideal audience was and creating content for them. Her channel went from dull and boring to a thriving reflection of Shelly’s outgoing personality and her knowledge.

She is proof that sometimes, you don’t need 100k subscribers, just a loyal base. Shelly was able to dig deep and really identify the purpose of her channel and then formulate a plan based on that. When you find that target market, you find the people who really appreciate you.

I had Lisa on the show a few years ago, and I’m so excited to welcome her back to the podcast… this time as one of my 1:1 coaching clients! I love bringing on the creators I work with, showing them off on the podcast, and seeing what happens when someone truly uplevels their content.

After 7 years on YouTube and becoming very successful, Lisa started to feel stuck. She was finding it hard to create content she was excited about, her views were on a slow and steady decline. It started to become a vicious cycle. The more her views declined, the less motivated and inspired she felt to create content.

Alivia D'Andrea and her controversial Glow Up Diaries have been the center of a lot of attention on YouTube. In her Glow Up Diaries, Alivia captivated an audience of dedicated viewers as she transparently documented her struggles with eating and losing weight and shared her story with binge eating, depression, and trying to get healthy. 

This gained her millions of subscribers and views but with these views came a lot of criticism. Professionals in the fields of nutrition, psychology, and fitness, all had a lot to say on the content she was displaying for millions of eyes to see.

Do you need to come up with completely original ideas in order to be successful on YouTube? A lot of people try to be original on YouTube. They want to be different. They want to stand out. So they agonize over coming up with brand new concepts and get held back by the idea that their ideas have been done before, so they can’t do them again. One of the biggest pieces of YouTube advice out there is that you have to be different in order to stand out in a crowded YouTube space… and I’m guilty of giving out that advice.

So what do you do when you have a great idea, but you’re afraid someone else has already done it? What do you do when you have a great idea, but just as you’re sitting down to film it, someone else does it? Do you create it anyway? Do you upload it?

The answer is yes. And in this episode, I’ll tell you why.

I’m a huge fan of self-improvement and I read a lot of self-help books. I came across the book, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** and I came across a few nuggets of inspiration.

I started podcasting when most people didn’t know what a podcast was. I’ve recorded well over 300 episodes and I’m grateful to have been listed as a top marketing podcast for many years. I’ve been a guest on several popular podcasts as well, so it’s safe to say that I know a thing or two about podcasting. But I also know a thing or two about YouTube! I’ve been running my YouTube Bootcamp, coaching YouTube creators, and managing several channels for years, and this has given me an interesting perspective on both podcasting and YouTube.
